One of the great honors of my life was meeting Havelwhen he was President. The people I met then had lost good careers in a Soviet economy, forcing them to work menial jobs, and many had spent time in prison. Dissenters like him and Lech Walensa show us the way. As a 70 year old upper middle class white woman, I have a duty to take the risks, to hopefully give permission to others to at least do small acts of dissent. Soon after Trump’s 1st election, I had a dream about taking a bus with others to a demonstration, and there was a teenage boy who was scared. In the dream, I told him that "We can either be each of us alone in our fear, or together in courage." That dream has stuck with me. Thank you for YOUR words and your courage.
